I feel like it’s been ages since I threw up some inspiration on this blog. Been prioritizing other projects that are of a larger scope and letting my Friday posts slide a bit. I’ll work on posting more inspirational posts in the future.
YIN teaser | by Nicolas Fong | Tumblr: those-visions-have-no-end
Loving the textures, cel animation, and optical illusional style of this teaser. I’m excited to watch the full short. Keeping an eye out for this!
A is for Albert | By Studio Lovelock | studiolovelock.com
Love this alphabetical adventure following a feisty child named Albert. He really loves to help out, fix things, negotiate, and party. Enjoying that every letter has its own story featuring him. Great animation and very fun to watch!
You can also view these animations on Aisforalbert.com
Looking forward to the weekend! Hope everyone else is too and excited for my Monday post. Make sure to check back then because it’s a special Valentine edition!
Apparently, the painkillers I have for my hip make me super singsongy….because for the last half hour I’ve been narrating myself through singing. It’s super weird, but also doesn’t feel out of the ordinary because of pills.
I drew a shadow study since I’ve been trying to draw people all day and it’s not been working out. I figured I need some shadow practice and a few reference photos. This was helpful in jogging my memory from drawing class freshman year. I haven’t really done many people drawings since then so I’m not surprised I’m having trouble. It happens when you don’t practice. Just do a billion drawings every day for practice.
In honor of needing to get to bed because I’m about to get sleepy here’s some inspiration from my favorite youtube channel, Kurzgesagt.
I spent a lot of time working on some lettering. It’s in pencil form for the moment but will be digitally finished off soon. Had one of those days where a lot goes down but not much got finished. Made tons of progress on the lettering and idea phase of a project’s creation. I’m going to turn in for the night so I can get even more done tomorrow, but got some inspiration so we can all hustle!
Don’t Fail Idaho ‘Turning Poing’ | By Buck
Do I really need to explain anything about how awesome this animation is?
Pathway Through Care | By Anchor Point
Love this whole design and animation.
Lots to do tomorrow so heading to bed early. Here are some very cool animations to keep you inspired!
A True Story – Carly | By Guille Comin
Love the message for this and the illustration style that supports the narration. I love seeing these because they inspire me to create things, nerdy things specifically!
Disney X D – Gravity Falls ID | By Golden Wolf
Been following Golden Wolf’s Instagram and getting inspired by their animation transitions and 2D style. Love the focus this piece has and transitions of each character’s heads. The simple pattern design in the background is a really great way to make the whole piece work together. Will continue watching more Golden Wolf animations!
Work Story: Motivation | By Oddfellows
Some interesting information with awesome animations! Love the transitions from shape to shape.
Greetings from LWZ | By LWZ
Sweet little parallax animation. Love the simplicity of the movements combined with beautiful illustrations.
One of those thinking days today. Got lots to do Monday so here’s some inspiration to get motivate everyone!
Traveling Lights | By we think things
A beautiful piece using negative space and shape layers to create simple moments. Love the designs and reminds me to be mindful of the compositions I create.
Empty Storage 01 | By Peter Steineck
Loving the throwback of pixelization and design style of games. The character is silly and the old style to it is a great fit.
I’m tired. Too much walking in the snow today, fun night, but I’m just done for right now. -yawn-
Please enjoy the Yule Log website. The music is my new productivity soundtrack.
Spent all day working on a project with a friend. Got back from that and took a nap…basically accomplished no personal projects. -sigh- I think tomorrow will have to be a day of working in coffee shops or something. Working at home is starting to get distracting.
Whitechapel Gallery – Mary Heilmann – Summer Exhibition Teaser | By Emmanuelle Walker
Loving the textures in this piece. Interesting incorporation of movement for the exhibition.
Zubroffka 2016 | By Kijek / Adamski
Shiny lights are shiny. I’m mesmerized by the movement of the lighting in this piece. Great geometric designs.
Interview, two pots of tea, and lots of family time. Since I had minimal productive time towards working on the rebrand and animation stuff here’s a link to an awesome video to watch. It’s a longer than the usual animation inspiration so just going to post one tonight.
The Most Gruesome Parasites – NTDs Explained | By Kurzgesagt
I love these because the combination of animation with education is high quality and delightful. I love learning through art and this is a perfect example of why I love motion graphics.
Here’s what I’ve decided on my Startup Weekend post. It’s going to go up Monday with all the finalized graphics and lessons learned. If it is not up please shame me until it is.
This week has been nonstop bad habits. I don’t know why, but procrastination at every turn along with distractions and oversleeping. I’m going to bed early and setting a loud alarm. I’m hoping that it’s a sleeping situation. I’ve been going to bed at 2 AM or later that past week. When my sleep schedule gets messed up the rest of the day gets a bit out of sync. So bed time and more exercise.
Sharing inspiration so I can get to sleep before 1 AM or at least sit in bed playing Lisa Eldrige videos until her ASMR voice puts me to sleep.
This is Motion Graphics! | By Kevin
Great piece demonstrating the concept of motion graphics. It’s well illustrated and explains a lot. Will be keeping in my back pocket to show anyone that gets confused by what I do.
18.01 Piano Waves | By Simon F A Russell
I half expected a fight between animals on each side. Beautiful design and movement. I wish there were more components to it like a color change or the shapes created stories eventually. Beautiful piece!
