Wrap Ups & New AAR Song ‘DGAF’

Finished my wrap up video for Booktube-a-thon. Includes the spine poetry & TBR lettering I never posted.

Since that’s done I’m now currently distracted by the new All American Rejects Song DGAF.

Monday Life Updates & Pokemon

Today is a Monday, which means time for lifey-goal-update time. So far feeling lots better. I think the routine of exercising every morning aka go to that Pokestop that’s far away every single morning has been super helpful. I puts me in a better mood for the day and I’ve been finding that I can concentrate for longer periods of time without feeling frustrated and upset. I know that’s what the doctors and life advice columnists have been saying for years, but I’m really bad at following advice involving exercise.

Aside from my intense need to go catch Pokemon and get more pokeballs I’ve been reading again. The Booktube-a-thon was an immense help in breaking my long dry spell. I realized that I haven’t finished a book since March. It’s near the end of July and I’m very behind my reading goal of a reasonable 24. I know I can read more books than 2 a month if I actually just read instead of say that’s what I’m going to do. I’ve been really into online articles and blogs for reading, but I’m trying to get away from that. Booktube-a-Thon really did help a lot, and the excitement over Harry Potter & The Cursed Child is getting me in the spirit. I have plans to continue making Booktube videos and will likely have a wrap up video tomorrow.  I got distracted today so didn’t get to filming. And I realized I forgot to finish my poem…oops. Need to put that in my bullet journal.

The next step in project burnout recovery is to get back into my animation goals. I have a six week course for School of Motion that I need to step up to the plate and finish. For some reason one of the first things I cast aside was learning character animations when the burnout set in, of course at that point I was chalking it up to procrastination…but when you realize that 4 weeks have gone by and you haven’t touched that course you start to wonder what the underlying problem is. I didn’t even realize 4 weeks had passed until they said it was the ‘break’ week meaning that new courses wouldn’t be up for a bit so that everyone could catch up. That’s about when I started realizing I hadn’t truly accomplished anything in a long time and started stressing out even more than I already was. Oh, the burnout clues were all over the place, yet I didn’t notice. Yay reflection.

In art related news I found a some awesome Reform Refograph pens at my local thrift store and plan to break into them for drawing tests tomorrow or Wednesday. I know a couple are already broken, but I’m going to hope I can get some in the old set to work. I’ve never had any technical pens so I can blame one broken pen on myself, the others not so much. I can’t say they were in a great state to when I bought them, but after cleaning they look a bit more promising. However, I’ll be doing one more round of cleaning tomorrow before I put any ink in them. I’ll be taking a trip down to my local art supply store for some higher quality ink and asking them questions in hopes that I might be able to repair the one I broke, probably not, but it’ll be worth a try.

I’m still on that job hunt life. Thankfully my recovered optimism is helping me actually apply. The stress of just sending out a resume would sometimes leave me flapping around like a fish out of water. It was not helpful for actually getting a job, so glad I’m recovering that part of myself again. In addition to that job hunting I’m still writing for Camp NaNoWriMo and other side stories. It’s been a welcome to just muse on a strange thought and dive into a different world for an hour or two. Still writing. Maybe next year’s goal will be edit and publish the novel. I’ll just have to see where life takes me.

That about does it for life updates and sorta weekly goals. Tomorrow I will film and edit a booktubeathon wrap up and maybe try to make the youtube thing a weekly occurring goal. Would be good to get some structure into that goal.

Anyway, till tomorrow friends!

Booktube-A-Thon 2016 | Challenge Day 7

Today’s challenge for Booktube-a-Thon was to tell a book story/plot with book covers. I decided to summarize the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. I couldn’t include everything due to limited bookcover pictures, otherwise I would have had the appearance of Marvin the Depressed Robot. This was the last day for the Booktube-a-Thon reading challenges, tomorrow I will work on a wrapup of all the books I read and the last of the missed challenge videos. Till then enjoy tonight’s book cover story while I cram in my last minute reads!

A Very Dan Brown Themed Trip | Booktube-a-Thon 2016 | Day 6

My book spine poetry video is coming soon. I’ve been trying to balance reading and getting challenges in for the day of rather than backtracking. I really do want to finish that one though, so I should be up soon. Instead I did today’s challenge which is Literary Book Travels. Basically pick literary locations you would want to travel to. I had so many different places I wanted to go, but for the sake of sanity just ended up picking Dan Brown’s mystery books. He has so many different places that are rich in history as his main locations, and they’re all places I want to go to. If I had more time would have illustrated some places and maybe animated them. There’s also the potential to create some travels based around fictional worlds like Narnia & Hogwarts. I’ll have to leave that for another week though. Till then I need to read more, only one more day left of this readathon!

Booktube-A-Thon | Challenge Day 4 | Styleframes WIP

-Yawn- Started falling asleep while working on this. Long day of lots of different projects and then I went and got a fun haircut. So didn’t really get to work on my challenge video until tonight. I’m posting just the styleframes since I haven’t had a chance to do anything with audio or music. Challenge is to make a poem using book titles (the spines). I thought I’d handletter the titles so it took a bit longer to put together than wanted. I need to place the images of each novel in still and adjust so that you can read the poem and understand what’s going on. It’s a task I plan on leaving until tomorrow morning since I’m really tired. Night guys!

Booktube-A-Thon | Challenge Day 3 | Book Title Slip In

So this is the culmination of just having fun creating something different. I learned a bit more on how to use Audition, although I really don’t have an ear for this kind of stuff so I can’t really say I know how to use it well…but the point is that I learned something new. I also was reminded of how much I love photomanipulations. Been awhile since I’ve done that. All in all good creative day. Have a few more things to work on before bed tonight, but for now celebrating the wins of my day!

Question for you! What did you do today that you’re proud of?

I’m proud of finishing this Challenge Video and still having extra time in the day!

BookTube-A-Thon Title Sequence WIP

Working on my title sequences for my BookTube-A-Thon TBR. I was aiming to enter the giveaway for a box of books, but I realized that I didn’t have enough time to finish. So here’s the process of the lettering so far. I’m in the middle of the vectoring and have to still animate it a bit. Not to mention edit all the video I filmed today. Planning on doing some more takes tomorrow. I don’t know if I said this before, but I’m using this as a test run for my Selfi Animation, also, it’s been fun diving into more lettering.

I have a lot to do tomorrow so hoping that I can finish this up and get it done by the end of tomorrow so I don’t have to worry about it. I’m trying to get ahead this week so that I can allot more time to reading next week.

Booktube-a-Thon | Sketching

The Booktube-a-Thon is coming up from the 18th to the 24th of July so I’ve been working on some sketches for my TBR video. I’m trying to use it as a practice round for the selfi animation since it’s going to have a similar style. Plus more animation practice which I’ve been slacking in. Here’s some sketches to show that I am working on something, just been a little distracted with all the ideas in my head lately. Note, I am on a trip so I don’t have a proper scanner at this moment so phone photos. Just some fun lettering titles for each of the challenges. I’m going to be vectoring and animating them tomorrow night when I get home.
