If none of this makes sense sorry. I’ve tried really hard to type out things coherently explaining stuff, but I’m tired and words don’t seem to be working too well. I’m actually at that point were I’m starting to wonder if there’s a ghost in my room again and I keep freaking out at all the little noises. I need to go to bed.
Basically, all you need to know right now is I’m imitating Syd Weiler’s style. She’s a really talented illustrator who is currently an Adobe Creative Resident. I’ve been geeking out over the talented individuals of the residency recently and after watching her work on the Adobe Twitch channel I got all inspired. I haven’t really seen her sketch from start to finish so I kind of just mimicked it from memory. She draws these amazing logs and stumps which are beautiful to look at. I’m excited to see the project she’s working on during her Residency. I def recommend checking out her other stuff as well as looking at other residents’ work. I promise to elaborate on their stuff tomorrow. I’m just really tired right now and I def need to get some sleep. Once again check out her work and take some time to appreciate her beautiful illustration skills!
Meet my extremely sketchy doodle from the Raven Boys I did mostly via my ipad, but since I couldn’t really record my screen on there I ended up only being able to catch the tail end of my edits on my desktop. Hope you enjoy I liked this and might do more.
Working on my title sequences for my BookTube-A-Thon TBR. I was aiming to enter the giveaway for a box of books, but I realized that I didn’t have enough time to finish. So here’s the process of the lettering so far. I’m in the middle of the vectoring and have to still animate it a bit. Not to mention edit all the video I filmed today. Planning on doing some more takes tomorrow. I don’t know if I said this before, but I’m using this as a test run for my Selfi Animation, also, it’s been fun diving into more lettering.
I have a lot to do tomorrow so hoping that I can finish this up and get it done by the end of tomorrow so I don’t have to worry about it. I’m trying to get ahead this week so that I can allot more time to reading next week.
Not my best work, but it’s a doodle. Been working on Nano and Character Animation Bootcamp stuff. I didn’t really have anything planned for tonight’s blog post so I just sketched this out. Normally I would do an Animation Inspiration, but I feel like I need to start doing some more skill based projects rather than just finding any video that inspires me.
Wasn’t paying attention to the time tonight. Got caught up in listening to stories from my sister’s trip to Europe. I didn’t realize that it was after midnight until just now.
Selfi Mograph Update: I still haven’t reached animating stage as I had hoped. Been trying to concentrate on editing the script and lettering from there. It’ll come together better when I figure out my voice recording. I’m trying to find the right voice for it. Also, I’ve been stumbling over some of the words I’ve written, not because they’re hard to say but because they sound too formal or like a presentation. I keep changing things as a result, so getting a bit behind as a result. The new adjusted goal is to be animating by Monday.
Here’s some of the sketches so far:
Hopefully will be farther along tomorrow. I have a lot of catchup on Character Animation Bootcamp already so I’m likely to back burner this until I’m at least on top of that.
Mmmmmmmmmmmm….ew….I hate drawing myself. I love self portraits, but pencil & marker ain’t my medium for self portrait usually. I like paint better, but I want a caricature style for this mograph. Paint is okay for this type of portrait, but I also don’t feel like trying to paint when I don’t need to. Plus I don’t have a good space to really do oil in, nor a proper photograph of myself that I like.
Quick little update tonight. Worked a bit on some sketches for the Inky Valentine workshop over on Skillshare with Tom Froese. Read my recent post if you need more context. Otherwise going to bed early tonight so not much else for updates. Just working on bringing the valentines to life.
Watched this story and couldn’t resist creating this little lettering piece tonight. Olan Rogers is one of my favorite Youtubers because of his great storytelling skills. He’s always delivering some crazy story in some funny voices and great hand movements. He’s super expressive and makes me laugh. If you’ve never seen his videos watch the two below. They’re my favorites.
