Title Sequence | WIP resume

Title sequence updates again! Most of my difficulties have lay within my lack of boards for the actual titles. Last week I had planned to just animate with shape layers well into the night, but after working these today I realize I should have had them done way earlier. Just thankful that the contest deadline got extended. I’m starting to wonder if I’d been able to finish at all. I think I would have done something, maybe not a great animation, but I would have finished. So thankful I have time to really hone and finesse this.

Below are the boards with text which is what I felt has been missing the last couple days. Animation resumes tomorrow. I plan on getting a better grasp of the timing and chronological order I want. Also I want to work on sound design since I have more time. Excited to get back into the groove of animating this!

Patterns & Fonts | Title Sequence WIP

Today was a busy day. Got to go peach picking with my grandmother and other family, visited my Aunt & Uncle’s new home, and then had a low key dinner party. It was anticipated since we’re always doing lots of activities when we come out to the Western Slope of Colorado. It’s fun, but draining.

I did draw an icon for the styleframes, but I have yet to mock it up in Illustrator. I didn’t get much farther than that drawing wise. I allotted time to figuring out what I wanted the type to say. I also took time finding a free font that looked similar or at least mimicked the feeling that is presented in the Man Seeking Woman titles. If you couldn’t tell I spent a lot of time reading the interview on Art of the Title.

You can see a couple pattern tests and the titles that I’ve started with. Will be testing some other ideas for the names, but for now these work. I’m working for funny but relatable when it comes to writing. I’ll have to brainstorm with a few writer friends for more ideas.

The font I decided to use is called Moon. It’s similar in style to the rounded look of Diamonds, but has a difference in variation. Still reflective of the style, but more importantly, free.  You can download it here if you like it!

I have another 5 hour+ drive back home to Boulder with the fam tomorrow so we’ll see how much work I get done. Depends quite a bit on the time we get back. Yay traffic. >_>

Booktube-A-Thon | Challenge Day 4 | Styleframes WIP

-Yawn- Started falling asleep while working on this. Long day of lots of different projects and then I went and got a fun haircut. So didn’t really get to work on my challenge video until tonight. I’m posting just the styleframes since I haven’t had a chance to do anything with audio or music. Challenge is to make a poem using book titles (the spines). I thought I’d handletter the titles so it took a bit longer to put together than wanted. I need to place the images of each novel in still and adjust so that you can read the poem and understand what’s going on. It’s a task I plan on leaving until tomorrow morning since I’m really tired. Night guys!

Booktube-A-Thon | Challenge Day 3 | Book Title Slip In

So this is the culmination of just having fun creating something different. I learned a bit more on how to use Audition, although I really don’t have an ear for this kind of stuff so I can’t really say I know how to use it well…but the point is that I learned something new. I also was reminded of how much I love photomanipulations. Been awhile since I’ve done that. All in all good creative day. Have a few more things to work on before bed tonight, but for now celebrating the wins of my day!

Question for you! What did you do today that you’re proud of?

I’m proud of finishing this Challenge Video and still having extra time in the day!

The Selfi Mograph

I’ve taken to referring to this as my selfi mograph… Yup, I’ve reached the point that I’m leaving the ‘e’ off. I forgot to type it and then decided it looked cooler. I feel so conceited, but still going to do it.

Portrait wise I finally found a style I liked and now I just have to decide on the color combo. I can’t decide which I like best yet. Anyway, I’m moving on from this and working on the next part of the styleframes. I hope to start animating by Wednesday or Thursday next week. There’s a lot of parts to this animation I want to take my time on. Really trying to make the best project I possibly can. I’m also piling on another project for Father’s day and will be updating that as well. And can’t forget that Character Animation Bootcamp has started, and I have a couple freelance opportunities I’m starting. I’m going to be living in AE & AI these next few weeks. I’m super excited and can’t wait to drink more coffee.

Warning, I am leaving on a little trip tomorrow. Posts will continue as normal, but I am anticipating a lot of babysitting and family time. This meaning less time to work on projects, so you might end up with more Animation Inspiration fillers than process updates. I just hope I still have time to get my character animations. I’m excited and will continue updates as normal!

Animation Inspiration 14

Today’s Animation Inspiration seems to have a theme of perspective. Meaning the unique uses of perspective in the shot as well as the lense one views the story and designs on the page. Both pieces are certainly unique in perspective as well as in stories. Enjoy!

Teeth

Wonderfully creepy and beautifully illustrated story about teeth. I love the different perspectives of seeing everything through the mouth! I also like the age progression as the narrative builds with it. Unsettling near the end, but absolutely worth a watch!

Bet4Talent

This informative mograph is mesmerizing. I love all the different levels of play in each scene. As well as the simplicity of each movement that makes up what looks both complicated and simple designs. I would love to see the styleframes and process that got to these designs. Especially for the acronym LISA’s explanation. The type lockup in beautifully done. Great to look at from an illustrative graphic design perspective as well as motion.
