Lettering TASU

Finished making this today! I’m pleased with the lettering and design style. Different from what I usually make. I’m going have to refine this style and work on more projects like this! I’m heading to the airport in a bit to go pick up my brother. Excited to see him and his girlfriend. Will update you with more work tomorrow.

Lettering Sketches

-yawn- I’m a bit tired from a long day. I didn’t make too much today. I’m sharing my few sketches for a lettering I’ve been working on the past week. I’m hoping to finish it this week. I’m devoting a large portion of tomorrow to sketches and decisions for the title sequence contest. Updates on that tomorrow.

Booktube-A-Thon | Challenge Day 4 | Styleframes WIP

-Yawn- Started falling asleep while working on this. Long day of lots of different projects and then I went and got a fun haircut. So didn’t really get to work on my challenge video until tonight. I’m posting just the styleframes since I haven’t had a chance to do anything with audio or music. Challenge is to make a poem using book titles (the spines). I thought I’d handletter the titles so it took a bit longer to put together than wanted. I need to place the images of each novel in still and adjust so that you can read the poem and understand what’s going on. It’s a task I plan on leaving until tomorrow morning since I’m really tired. Night guys!

BookTube-A-Thon Title Sequence WIP

Working on my title sequences for my BookTube-A-Thon TBR. I was aiming to enter the giveaway for a box of books, but I realized that I didn’t have enough time to finish. So here’s the process of the lettering so far. I’m in the middle of the vectoring and have to still animate it a bit. Not to mention edit all the video I filmed today. Planning on doing some more takes tomorrow. I don’t know if I said this before, but I’m using this as a test run for my Selfi Animation, also, it’s been fun diving into more lettering.

I have a lot to do tomorrow so hoping that I can finish this up and get it done by the end of tomorrow so I don’t have to worry about it. I’m trying to get ahead this week so that I can allot more time to reading next week.

Booktube-a-Thon | Sketching

The Booktube-a-Thon is coming up from the 18th to the 24th of July so I’ve been working on some sketches for my TBR video. I’m trying to use it as a practice round for the selfi animation since it’s going to have a similar style. Plus more animation practice which I’ve been slacking in. Here’s some sketches to show that I am working on something, just been a little distracted with all the ideas in my head lately. Note, I am on a trip so I don’t have a proper scanner at this moment so phone photos. Just some fun lettering titles for each of the challenges. I’m going to be vectoring and animating them tomorrow night when I get home.

Animation Inspiration 64

Just some quick ones. I’m being distracted by Kim Possible.

Face Melter! | By Make It Move

Love this loop! It’s fun seeing it repeat over and over again. Fun quick animation with interesting splashes.

Words Animation | By HANDS UP BY

Great lockups for every single word. I love the way each title is reset in the same way. It’s fun that the letters lock up in fun unique combinations with the same simples. Very simple design with simple movements too.

Animation Inspiration 59

Watching animation transitions for lettering. I’m trying to come up with different movements for all the lettering I’ve created for this Selfi mograph. Hoping to have something to show soon. Just been a little slow lately. I think the summer heat is getting to me, wish our house had air conditioning, but alas it does not. Oh well, gotta stop making those excuses and make some headway into this project

Count on Me | By Gentleman Scholar

I love this piece because of the many interesting transitions between numbers. The strange laughing is fun too. It’s a fun piece to watch.

Childline: First Step | By Buck

As usual Buck has an amazing animation. I love the ways they show the words moving and the way that they pop up in the story. The beginning is really amazing with the broken animated words. I love the weight of emotions that places emphasis on each of the words and letters they’ve created. Amazing piece with a lot of feeling in the little details.

Basic Type | Selfi Progress

In order to significantly increase my progress on the selfi project I thought I should develop some basic type for the parts that aren’t going to be hand lettered. It’ll help with keeping everything cohesive and much easier on myself. I haven’t created the whole alphabet, yet, but plan on doing so tomorrow. Here’s the shapes I’ve done so far with the opening of my script.

Aside from that I did go back to edit my script. I felt like it was reading too formal for the way I talk so I’ve changed up some parts and added in new bits. I don’t want to share the script in it’s entirety until the project is done, so don’t look for it. Plus, I’ll eventually be posting all the styleframes so you’ll be able to piece it together.

I’m crossing fingers that I can start animating Monday. I’ve change the script so many times that the process for hand lettering is taking longer. I’m trying to hold off on vectoring until I’ve locked in the script and lettering styles. I’m nearly set on the style, I think I’m in need of listening to the quote of “Don’t let perfect be the enemy of good.” Starting to drag this project out as a result of the “perfect” issue, which is not helpful.

Welp, more progress tomorrow!
